Newport Rocks!...Acoustically.
The Newport Folk Fest yesterday was awesome! Some pictures that I took can be found here.
It was a hot day and despite some dehydration it was lots of fun. The Del McCoury Band, a guilty pleasure of mine from sometimes watching CMT late at night, played their rollicking bluegrass early on in the day getting the energy level up. I also really enjoyed the music of several people I'd heard (or heard of) before- Ray LaMontagne, Richard Thompson, and the Foghorn String Band. Bela Fleck-my main reason for wanting to attend the festival- was amazing! And The Pixies were a great way to top off a great day. I'd never heard that much of their stuff before and was pleasantly surprised by how different they sounded acousitacallly than what I'd checked out of theirs on iTunes.
